I have 2012A but have Win7 Home Premium and only got it to work by doing a temporary crack that allowed me to run virtual XP mode. If the tuner has worked with Motronic before it should help immensely. I wouldn't recommend making any changes at all without understanding them entirely.

I'd say it's six months of spare time, decoding and understanding the maps before you should be making changes, assuming you don't know where to start, which seems to be a fair assumption here. The easy part is reading/flashing the ECU. First thing I'd get a Volvo file in the hands of your tuner. Worst case scenario, I've got an R motor sitting in my garage gathering dust. I already have the Kevlar tune, but I want to see if he's willing to adjust it for me on a dyno. Well one is a veteran mazda tuner, and he's had about 5 years experience tuning hundreds of cars. I've decided to take things into my own hands after the countless horror stories of off the shelf chips, and even performance shops that just tweek their dynos to print off higher numbers for a false sense of performance.
